Weather-Tite Quality Assurance

Quality Work is Just the beginning

The Weather-Tite Quality Assurance Program

Quality work. Clear communication. Accountability that lasts.
At Weather-Tite Exteriors, we believe you should choose a contractor with confidence, not uncertainty. Quality isn’t something we think about during a final walkthrough; it’s something built into every project from the very beginning. Whether we’re replacing a roof, installing siding, or handling any other part of your exterior, you should get honest advice, solid planning, clear communication, and accountability through to the end of the job.

A Promise Built on Accountability

We think a warranty should be more than a piece of paper. It starts with doing the job properly and continues with taking responsibility when something falls within our workmanship warranty. We’ll tell you what we recommend and why; we’ll put our commitments in writing, and we’ll work to earn your trust through what we do rather than just what we say.

Construction can be full of surprises. If something unforeseen does arise, we’ll explain the situation, go through the various practical options, and help you to make an informed decision. You won’t be expected to have any knowledge of the technical side of things, as that’s precisely what we’re there to help you with.

How We Deliver Quality

One Project Manager
From Beginning to End

The first person you meet is your project manager. They will walk with you throughout the process of assessment, planning, construction, and closeout. You won’t be handed off to someone who doesn’t know your project. Our production and logistics teams are also involved in the background to co-ordinate the materials, scheduling and installation.

Expert Planning and Trained Installation Crews

Before any construction starts, we go through the scope, the property conditions, access, the responsibilities, and the potential issues. We work with crews who are trained on the systems they’re installing, and we use the manufacturer’s instructions, the applicable codes, and our own quality practices to run the work.

Quality-Control Technicians and Photo Documentation

Our QC guys are on site and inspecting the work as it’s being installed, not just at the end. We take photos of the work as we go (including any detail that may subsequently be covered by the finished materials). On multi-day jobs we’ll be providing progress updates and progress photos.

Final Walkthrough and Inspections

We review the finished work, check off the punch list, answer any questions you have and then close the project. The whole process focuses on preventing problems rather than dealing with them after the fact.

Our Workmanship Warranty

A Written 10-Year Residential Commitment

Weather-Tite Exteriors provides a standard 10 year residential workmanship warranty for qualifying installation defects. The warranty covers defects in workmanship which are the result of work not meeting the applicable installation requirements. The specifics of the warranty will vary by year and will be as per the written terms provided with your project.

The initial years provide the widest protection for qualifying workmanship issues (which may include associated repairs and/or resulting damage as per the warranty). Coverage then becomes progressively more restricted in the later years. We’ll go into those differences and provide you with the actual warranty document so you can see precisely what is and what isn’t covered. The written warranty is of course the one that takes precedence if there is any divergence from a summary.

Workmanship, materials, and outside damage are different

Our Workmanship Warranty covers qualifying installation problems. The manufacturer’s warranty will normally cover defects in materials. Storms, accidents, third-party activity, and the like are generally not covered by the manufacturer’s warranty and will require a different approach. We will help you to determine the cause and advise you as to which warranty is applicable.

If it’s covered by our workmanship warranty, we will of course take responsibility and carry out the necessary repairs in accordance with the terms of that warranty. That’s what it means in reality to stand behind our work.

Manufacturer Warranties & Enhanced Protection

We’ll explain your options in plain English so you can decide which materials and level of protection is right for your property.

Products Chosen for Your Property

There is no one product that is right for every property. We take your design preferences, your maintenance expectations, your budget, and the particular challenges your property faces (be that hail and wind or just the normal wear and tear of a property) into account. We’ll recommend products that have a proven track record in the Black Hills and manufacturers that we’ve found to be reliable when the need for support arises. If we have less experience with a particular product, we will be up front about that.

Warranties That Are Dependable

A warranty may look very impressive on paper; the reality is that when something goes wrong, it’s the investigation, the communication, and the support that really matter. We look at how manufacturers go about dealing with issues, what their standard coverage is, and whether the premium you pay for enhanced coverage is in any way justified.

Enhanced Protection and Workmanship

Depending on the product and program, an enhanced warranty may provide extended material coverage, include accessories or labor, reduce depreciation, or provide manufacturer-backed protection for qualifying installation issues. Some eligible roofing systems may have workmanship coverage that extends beyond our standard 10-year warranty (potentially for decades).

What Happens If Something Goes Wrong?

One Call. We’ll Sort It Out for You.

If you have any concerns about something we’ve installed, then please get in touch with our office or your project manager. We’ll get back to you promptly, assess the situation in terms of urgency, and will arrange to assess what’s happened, how much it is, and what the root cause is. Our aim is to give you a clear understanding of what the problem is and what the next steps are.

If Our Workmanship Has Issues

If an issue arises as a result of our installation and that issue is covered by our workmanship warranty, we will of course take responsibility and make the necessary repairs under that warranty. We don’t think the customer should have to go to all the trouble of trying to get a valid workmanship issue sorted out.

If It’s a Manufacturer Defect

You’re not on your own. We’ll walk you through the warranty process together. We’ll help you document the issue, communicate with the manufacturer, gather the paperwork, arrange any inspections, and coordinate any testing or samples that may be required. Every manufacturer has its own process, and ultimately their team will decide whether they will cover it. We won’t just give you a phone number and walk away.

If Something Else Caused the Damage

Storms, accidents, and other external factors can, of course, damage a properly installed product. We’ll tell you what we find, then look at the practical options available, from a simple repair to an insurance claim for more substantial damage.

Our Commitment Doesn’t End at Completion

We’ll listen, we’ll investigate, we’ll communicate openly and honestly and we’ll help you work out a way forward. Our standing behind what we do isn’t just something we can say in a statement. It’s something we live.
